Crowns

Most dentistry looks like replacement teeth and stand out next to neighboring natural teeth. However, Dr. Ka Ron Wade provides Houston dental crowns that is literally undetectable. At our Cosmetic Dental Texas Houston dental crowns location, we replace existing crowns and fillings with restorations that look and feel like your natural teeth.

What is a dental crown? A dental crown is a cap placed over a tooth. Full crowns cover all visible portions of the tooth, right down to the gum line, and are the most often used. There are variations onlays and three fourth crowns that cover less of the tooth but still provide support. Crowns are commonly crafted with porcelain, resin, metal, and/or gold.

Why would I need dental crowns? Dental crowns provide a way to restore the integrity of teeth that are cracked or decayed, and in cases where a filling is so large that not much of the original tooth structure remains. They’re also used cosmetically to improve the appearance of teeth that are severely discolored or misshapen.

What is crown and bridgework? Also called a fixed bridge, a crown or a bridge has two parts: the crown(s) and the replacement (pontic) tooth. A crown rests on top of an existing tooth that has been modified to ensure a tight fit. A bridge is an artificial tooth attached to a crown or crowns on either side so that it literally bridges the gap between two healthy teeth. Unlike a partial denture, fixed bridges are not removable.

Typically, we can design, fit, and place your crowns in just a couple of short appointments. Once a crown is placed, you can care for it as you do your natural teeth. Be sure to see us at least two times each year for professional cleanings and a preventive exam.
